Day's 302-306 (26th-30th April 2006) - THE 10TH MONTH MARK
Aloha! Well I have been spending the rest of my time in Hawaii chilling out. I've been to Waikiki beach a couple of times and also did a full day trip to the north shore. On that trip we got to check out a few beaches, one of which was the world renowned surfing beach called "Pipeline". We also went to a surfing museum and saw some sea turtles at another beach. I also did another trip called "the sunset cruise" where we went out into the ocean off Waikiki beach on a catamaran and had a few beers until the sunset, that was pretty cool. I met some cool people at the hostel so I have been hanging out with them most of my time here. I am kind of looking forward to getting out of here though as it's so very touristy and I'm looking forward to what LA has to offer....

Day 301 (25th April 2006)
I had another lazy day today. There is not much to do here apart from lazing on the beach or going surfing. In the evening we went out to a bar where there was $1 drinks all night long - nice place!!

Day 300 (24th April 2006)
Did the south shore trip today with a group of people from the hostel. We went to check out a few different beaches and did a couple of walks too. One of which gave amazing views across the south shore. It was an all day event and I was pretty tired out at the end of the day.

Day 298 (22nd April 2006)
Today I went to visit the USS Arizona memorial in Pearl Harbour. The hostel offered a free bus service to take people from the hostel, when we got there we had a look around the museum and had to wait for 2 hours to see the video. We missed the first 10 mins of it as we were waiting in the wrong queue. After the video a boat takes you out to the memorial which was built across the bridge of the actual ship that was bombed. You can see remaining parts of it under the water. There is still oil leaking out of the ship and you can see it floating on the top of the water. In the early evening everyone from the hostel went down to a field outside where the jack johnson / ben harper concert was taking place. We had a BBQ and some beers and we could hear the music quite well from that spot.

Day 297 (21st April 2006)
I arrived in Honolulu today at 7am, it's weird because it's the same day again because I crossed the international date line! I didn't do much today as I needed to get some sleep, I can never sleep on flights for some reason. In the evening I had a walk around Waikiki, it's very commercialised but they seem to keep it very clean.

Day 297 (21st April 2006)
I spent the whole day still on Bounty island until the catamaran arrived at 5pm to go back to the mainland. I got the free transfer bus to take me from the port to Nadi airport. I had to wait around there for about 4 hours before boarding the flight to Hawaii. I'm very sad to be leaving Fiji, these tropical islands are fantastic!

Day's 295/296 (19th/20th April 2006)
Caught the catamaran again today to take me to my last island in Fiji before I leave - Bounty Island. Bounty island is where the bounty chocolate advert was filmed but was made more famous recently as being the setting for the first celebrity love island. Some of the film set is still there on part of the island but the main building and swimming pool has been moved to the resort on the other side of the island. I've had a good 2 days on this island, the snorkelling is the best I've seen, the coral reef is very colourful and there are plenty of fish out there. All the activities here are free and the bar is open late and has a good happy hour. On the second day of my visit here I borrowed a kayak and paddled around the island 2 times, gotta keep fit some how!!

Day's 293/294 (17th/18th April 2006)
I caught the catamaran again today to take me to another island called Waya. I stayed at the Octopus resort. This place was by far one of the best resorts in the Yasawas. The food here was exceptional and there were plenty of activities on offer. I ofcourse did a lot of snorkelling there as the reef was really amazing. I met a couple of english girls, one of which had her birthday so we celebrated that with a few beers and cocktails.

Day's 291/292 (15th/16th April 2006)
I was up really early today to get the free transfer bus to the port in order to catch the Yassawa flyer catamaran to Nacula island. It was a long journey around 5 hours to get from the mainland to Nacula. I stayed at a place called Oarsman bay lodge, it was really nice place and the people were great. The beach was fantastic, beautiful white sand and there was some great snorkelling right off the beach. I saw some new fish I hadn't seen before and also a mantaray that was just sitting on the sand a little way into the water. On the second day me and a Scottish guy went out on the kayaks and paddled out to another small island that was un-inhabited, like a proper little tropical island. There was also some good snorkelling off that too. Fiji is so relaxing!

Day 290 (14th April 2006)
Left Robinson Crusoe island at lunch time to head back to Nadi. I spent the night back at the Horizon beach resort in Nadi Bay. I met a few cool people and we chilled out (as usual). Tomorrow I am off to the Yasawa islands.

Day 289 (13th April 2006)
Spent the day chilling out, we had a nice BBQ lunch which was cooked in a lovo. Which are hot stones in the ground. In the evening we all played some drinking games which was fun and then played some organised beach games - so far I'm loving Fiji!!

Day 288 (12th April 2006)
I took a snap decision today and decided to head out to Robinson Crusoe island for 2 nights. We got there at about 1.30pm and had lunch and chilled out in hammocks for a while. In the evening the locals performed some traditional dances, knife throwing and fire dancing - it was excellent. I met some cool people, Hayley from Manchester (who also shares my last name!) and Stu and Tom from London. We are now on "Fiji Time" - time to relax!!

Day 287 (11th April 2006)
Today I flew from Auckland to Nadi in Fiji. After arriving at the airport I could feel the heat, it was 31 degrees. I picked up a coutesy bus to take me to the Horizon Resort in Nadi Bay. In the evening I sampled some of the Fijian beers and also took part in a kava ceremony. Kava is a drink produced from the root of a plant, it is mixed with water and forms a liquid that much resembles muddy water. The taste of kava is strange, the closest thing I could compare it too would be milk of magnesia! After drinking it, the mouth goes numb. The drink is also a mild narcotic, but you need to drink a lot of it to get the effects.

Day 286 (10th April 2006)
Was up early today, first of all I was down at the Qantas office trying to change my flight to Fiji, the good thing is that I managed to and now I am flying to Fiji tomorrow. This means I have 10 days there now instead of 7 and it only cost me 10 dollars to change it - bonus! Also today in the afternoon I went to the top of the sky tower and also did the 40m bungy jump off the Auckland harbour bridge. I met some people from that and later we went for some beers and ended up doing the reverse bungy in central Auckland. Tomorrow it is Fiji which I am really looking forward too.................

Had a chilled out day today, didn't do much. I've just been reading my book and stuff. I have phoned the bungy company and am booked in to do the bungy jump tomorrow at 2.30pm, Tomorrow I'm also gonna try and change my flight date to Fiji and bring it forward a couple of days.

Day 284 (8th April 2006)
Well it's all good news, the mechanical check was done and it was all fine. The Dutch people bought the car for the price I was asking and I moved down to central Auckland in the afternoon to the Base backpackers there. In the evening I won the pool competition in the bar which means I am able to do a bungy jump for 1/2 the price off the Auckland harbour bridge, all is looking good....

Day 283 (7th April 2006)
I spent the whole day today down at the backpackers car market. The day was really slow and there was only 3 buyers down there up until 4pm. Then 3 girls and a guy from Holland turned up and they were interested in my car, so we arranged a mechanical check for tomorrow at 10am. Fingers crossed, lets see what happens...........

Day 282 (6th April 2006)
Today I have been doing cleaning, cleaning and more cleaning. I am getting my car ready to sell, so I have had to hoover it out and give it a good clean all over and sort out all the camping gear. I got it all done though but it took most of the afternoon. Tomorrow I am off to the backpackers car market to try and sell this thing. Wish me luck?!?

Day 281 (5th April 2006)
I left Whangarei today for about a 2 hour drive down to Auckland. Auckland is such a big city. I managed to find a camping ground in Avondale which is about 15 mins from the city centre. I met up with AJ (a buddy who I met in Australia) as he lives in Auckland and we went for a coffee. It was a little too early for a beer - lol.
