Day 346 (9th June 2006)
We got back to San Fran at 7am. I slept well on the bus - maybe because I was so tired from all the walking and bad sleep nights on that bus. We got dropped off back at the hostel just in time to see some of the opening world cup game between Germany and Costa Rica. At 10am I took a shuttle to the Airport where I checked in for my flight to Seattle. After arriving at Seattle airport I went to get my rucksack from the baggage claim belt and it didn't appear. I waited longer and it still didn't appear so my luggage is lost and I'm totally pissed off. Anyway I went to see the guy at the counter and he put a trace, apparently my bag got as far as the gate but didn't get put on the plane - "great" I'm thinking - they lost my luggage. Anyway I caught a bus to central downtown Seattle (without bag) and checked in at the hostel. I'm staying at Green Tortoise again, I had an early night tonight as I needed to catch up on some sleep.

Day 345 (8th June 2006)
Today we spent the whole day at a lake in the middle of nowhere, we were supposed to be going to see the sierras and mono lake but the Tioga pass road was still closed due to snow so we couldn't do that. It was a really slow day chilling out and swimming in the lake, in the evening tonight we went to the Iron door saloon bar in a small town, it was a proper saloon bar with swinging doors and allsorts, they had karaoke on so everyone was getting up to sing. It was a really cool evening, everyone has a great time. After that it was back on the bus to drive back to San Fran....

Day 344 (7th June 2006)
Got a slighty better nights sleep last night as the bus was stationary. We had brekky and drove back into the park, again being dropped at the lodge. Today I walked to Vernal Falls with a couple of other people in the group. This walk was about 2-3 hours round trip, the actually waterfall or Vernal Falls is spectacular, it's probably one of the biggest waterfalls I have seen. We were picked up again at 4pm and on the way back to the camping ground we stopped at a grove to see some giant sequoia trees.

Day 343 (6th June 2006)
I took the overnight bus last night from San Fran to Yosemite, there are 34 people on the tour and we all had to sleep on the bus and it was pretty cramped! We woke up in the morning in Yosemite National park. We had brekky first and then were all dropped off at the Yosemite lodge in the centre of the park. The tour is not guided so we split into groups to do our own things, the group I was in decided to go to Glacier point and do the 4 mile walk from the top back down to the valley. The views from the top were amazing, you can see the half dome and 2 or 3 really big waterfalls. The walk down took around 2-3 hours and we were all pretty knackered by the end of it. We stopped for lunch on the way and we met the bus at 4pm and it took us to an overnight camping location just outside the park. Some people tonight slept outside of the bus probably cos of the overcramping. Tomorrow we go back into the park for more walking.

Day 342 (5th June 2006)
Last day today in San Fran, tomorrow I head on a 3 day camping trip to Yosemite national park. I booked it through the hostel as they have a travel office and I've heard good things about these trips. The Yosemite park is supposed to be really beautiful, it will be nice to get out of the city for a while. When I get back it's straight to the Airport for my flight to Seattle.

Day 341 (4th June 2006)
Not really been up to much, just been checking out various parts of the city. San Francisco is a really nice city there is a lot of stylish architecture and the people here are really friendly. The city is very clean and its really safe to walk around, definately one of the nicer places I've been to in the states.

Day 340 (3rd June 2006)
Today I went walking around again, this time I went to the Coit tower. At the top there are more fantactic views across the city. I then decided to head down to Fishermans Wharf, today there was a lot happening, there were many people on the street trying to make a few bucks by playing music or miming. From there I walked for 2 hours along the bay until I finally arrived at the Golden Gate bridge, this time IT WAS visible. I didn't realise it would take so long to get to it, it was really far away. I must have walked maybe 4 miles or something, anyway it was good to finally arrive there and I walked half way across the bridge and took a few photos. I walked back to the start and took a bus back into town.

Today I went for a walk around the city, I checked out Chinatown and Union Square and a few other places around. In the evening I met up with Mark and Loiuse again (the couple I met in Australia) I have now seen them in 4 different countries that I have been to! We went for some fish & chips at the Edinburgh Castle pub and then moved onto a few bars before heading to a nightclub. I had a pretty cool night without spending too much money.

Day 338 (1st June 2006)
I took 2 tours today, the first was a bus tour around the city. We saw the main sites in San Fran, our first stop was the Golden Gate bridge but it was not visible due to heavy fog! Then we went to see the beaches and a couple of park areas, we also got to go to the twin peaks which has amazing views across the whole city. The tour lasted around 3 hours. In the afternoon I went to Alcatraz! I did the audio tour of the cell block and it was really informative. I got to see the cells where Al Capone and the other notorius criminals where held...

Day 337 (31st May 2006)
Today I took a short flight from Vegas to San Francisco. The airport was quite far out so I had to take a shuttle. I am staying at the Green Tortoise hostel near Chinatown. The hostel is pretty cool, they have free internet here and also there are free dinners on Mon, Wed and Friday! I like the look of San Fran, the city has a nice warm feel to it. Tomorrow I am taking a couple of tours..........

Day 335 (29th May 2006) - THE 11TH MONTH MARK
Today I went to check out the Stratosphere casino and tower, at the top of the tower there are 3 extreme rides. I decided to give them a go, one of them spins you around and hangs you over the edge of the tower with a 1200ft drop below, it's pretty scary stuff. After that I went to see the free show called "Sirens of TI" at the Treasure Island casino. I got to say it was pretty impressive, there is a battle between two pirate ships. I also managed to check out the water cannon show outside of the Bellagio casino and had a walk around the Venetian. Inside the Venetian there is a canal that runs around the inside and up by the shops inside there is an amazing painted roof that has clouds painted on it and it actually looks like it's day inside..pretty amazing!

Day 333 (27th May 2006)
I slept most of the day today after the long night last night. In the evening tonight I did the limo tour. We got picked up in a Hummer limo, got free champagne and dropped off at New York New York. We then got free entry into the Coyote Ugly bar and then free entry into another place where there was a live band. After that we went into Excaliber casino and I had another go at Black Jack, same story as the last 2 nights, I ended up with $20 and free drinks. This time it wasn't such a late night as I got back before 6am!!

Day 332 (26th May 2006)
Today I went on a tour to the Grand Canyon and it was really amazing. The tour involved flying in a light aircraft from Vegas over the Hoover dam and mountains to the grand canyon. When we got there we then took an 8 minute helicopter flight into the canyon and landed down by the river. At the river there was a small boat that took us a short way up the Colorado river. After that we went back up in the helicopter to the top and took a short bus journey to one of the lookouts where we had some lunch. The canyon itself is really huge and it's quite difficult to get a real idea of actually how big it is, but it stretches for 277 miles in length. In the evening I went to check out the lights on the famous Freemont street, then went to a nightclub called The Beach and finally went to play some black jack at the Mirage casino, again I won a few bucks and had free drinks all night! I ended up getting home at 10am the next morning

Day 331 (25th May 2006)
Today I headed down to the famous strip. Me and another guy caught the Deuce bus and went to check out a few casinos! We went to see the MGM and New York New York and then walked up to see the erupting volcano at Mirage. Unfortunately the show at Treasure Island was cancelled due to high winds so we went into the casino and I had a few bets on Black Jack. Only won about $20 but had free drinks all night which was cool. Vegas is really amazing and so far it's been sensory overload, there are so many casinos and they are all really big. There is one with an Eiffel tower and Arc de Triumph. Another has a colloseum, there is the empire state building and statue of liberty at New York New York, this place is crazy!!

They have an Xbox here at the hostel and the game Tony Hawks, so I have been addicted to that for the last couple of days. I went for a small walk today, just around a part of San Diego, apart from that I didn't do much else. Tomorrow I leave for Las Vegas!

Day 328 (22nd May 2006)
Today I went to check out an aircraft carrier called the USS Midway. The aircraft carrier itself was de-commissioned in 1992 after the first gulf war and was turned into a museum. You are able to walk around the whole carrier and see the engine room, bridge, hangar deck and flight decks. There are also around 12 different types of restored aircrafts on the top deck that you can look at, it took around 2 1/2 hours in total to see it all. I took the audio tour which tells you about the different parts of the ship, I never realised really how big these things are, they are huge!

Day 327 (21st May 2006)
I woke up today feeling very sick and infact I was sick.. I spent the whole day in bed at the hostel feeling pretty rough. I took some tablets to try and help with the feeling. By 9pm I was starting to feel a bit better again, maybe tomorrow I will go and do something as I've only got 2 days left here.
