Day 107 (13th October 2005) Got up late again today but this time I wanted to do something. I decided to go and visit a fort called fort cornwallis by the waterfront. It was not that great but it killed a little bit of time walking there, walking around for a while and then heading back. I'm not sure what I'm gonna do tonight, might head to some different bars. There's a Shamrock bar that I walked past today which might be worth checking out....

Day 106 (12th October 2005) What did I do today? Well the answer is "Not a lot" I was having a chilling day recovering from the night before. I went for a walk around town and discovered a massive shopping mall place with about 5 levels, the place is ultra modern with loads of shops and restaurants - it reminded me a bit of Cascades in Pompey but on a much larger scale and much newer. I had a Maccies there, it's been a long time since I've had any kind of fast food. I noticed a pizza hut there too so I might head back there for pizza at some point. In the evening I headed back out to the Soho pub and then onto Slippery Senoritas again....another quite fun night!

Day 105 (11th October 2005) This morning I had to get up at 6am in order to get picked up to head to Penang. The bus first headed to Hat Yai and then I had to change buses to go to Penang. The bus arrived in Penang at about 5pm and I walked around to find a place to stay. Fortunately there are some good places in Chinatown to stay and I am staying at one called "75 Travellers Lodge". Since Malaysia is mainly an Islamic country it is very different here from Thailand. Where I am at the moment there are however plenty of places to drink. Last night I went to a couple of bars, there was a live band from the Phillipines playing in a place called Slippery Senoritas - they were really good. I was very impressed but the beer in that place seemed really expensive...got to be careful....

Day 104 (10th October 2005) Today I left at 9am in the morning on the boat to take me from Ko Phi Phi to Krabi. The trip took about 2 hours and on arrival to the ferry terminal I managed to get a taxi to take me into Krabi Town. He also took me to a good place to stay. After checking in I decided to go for a wonder around the town. There's not really that much there so I decided to book my ticket direct to Penang in Malaysia for tomorrow. I'm not going to stay in anymore places in Thailand.....

Day 103 (9th October 2005) Today I did take the boat trip to Phi Phi Leh...the guy driving the boat took me around the whole island. We stopped at the place where "The Beach" was filmed, the water is so gorgeous and clear, there was another cove that we went to where the water was so still and you could see right down to the bottom and all the tropical fish swimming around. I would have liked to have gone snorkeling there but unfortunately because of my wounds I was not able to. Tomorrow I leave at 9am for Krabi town, it's only gonna be a short stay there as I've got to start heading south into Malaysia by the 13th latest......

Day 102 (8th October 2005) Didn't manage to get the boat trip to Phi Phi Leh today as I was suffering. I was walking back from a bar last night along the beach and I hit a rock, propelling myself face first into another one and cutting the right side of my face and sustaining a deep cut in my leg....Oooouuuccchhh! It's pretty painful and I look like a right mess. I'm hoping that it will heal up pretty quick! Today I did nothing really apart from in the evening I watched the England Vs Austria game in a sports bar.

Day 101 (7th October 2005) I left my guesthouse in Patong today at 12pm and was picked up by a bus to be taken to the boat to go to Phi Phi. I met some crazy ozzies on the boat and we got to Phi Phi about 4pm. Phi Phi is beautiful, the beaches and water are just perfect. However I am now aware of the full destruction of the Tsunami as it is clearly evident on one side of this island. There are houses ripped apart and rubbish everywhere. There is a lot of rebuilding going on everywhere but it is taking it's time. Tomorrow I am going to try and get a boat trip out to the small island where 'the beach' was filmed.....

Day 100 (6th October 2005) Ok so I've been away now for 100 days! Doesn't seem like it though. The time is going so fast, I'm spending the rest of today here in Patong but I have booked the ticket for tomorrow to go to Koh Phi Phi island. I am gonna stay there 3 days I think and get a boat trip from the main island out to the smaller one where 'the beach' was filmed. Next Monday I have to head onto Krabi and then make a sharp exit towards the Malaysian border so I can cross in time before my visa runs out.....

Day 99 (5th October 2005) Got a bus to Patong and found a fairly cheap place to stay. This place is much more happening, there are loads of bars and restaurants and it's very touristy. The prices are a lot more expensive though, there are also loads of really sleazy old men walking around with really young girls. Although the room I am staying in is nice it's right behind a bar and my room vibrates with the sound of the bass from the music. It's not ideal if you want a good nights sleep. We spent the evening in another bar with some nice Thai girls....

Day 98 (4th October 2005) Spent today in Phuket town, there is not much going on here and not much to do. I met a guy from Cornwall in a cafe and spent the day looking around the town with him. There is a vegetarial festival thing going on here and people throwing firecrackers in the street. In the evening I went to some bar and me and this guy were the only 2 foreigners in that place. Tomorrow we are going to Patong, it seems that there is the place to be.....

Day 97 (3rd October 2005) I was up early this morning to head to the travel agent to book my ticket to Phuket. I got a joint ticket - no that doesn't mean I can smoke my ticket, it just means that it is a boat and bus ticket in one! The boat departed from Nathon at 1.30pm but I was on the other side of the island so I had got a bus for 50 Baht to the boat terminal. I got to Surat Thani at 3.30pm and then had to wait until 6.30pm until we finally left by minibus. I got here to Phuket town at 10.30pm and managed to find a budget hotel. I met a nice couple on the minibus and I went for a drink with them in a small bar round the corner. I am going to stay here for one more night as there is a vegetarial festival thing going on with lots of people sticking swords through their mouths and stuff. I wanna see that if possible, then I'm gonna head to Patong for 1 or 2 nights and then onto Koh Phi Phi...my time in Thailand is running out!

Day 96 (2nd October 2005) I spent today chilling out in some bars and restaurants along the main Chaweng stretch of road parallel to the beach. I really am not liking this place too much as it is so touristy and it is impossible not to spend money here. I am definately leaving tomorrow for Phuket.....>

Day 95 (1st October 2005) Spent the day on the beach and as usual got a bit lobstered. In the evening I found the PFC bar, yes there is a bar here devoted to Portsmouth football club and it's a wicked bar. They were showing the game between Pompey and Newcastle so I stayed for that. The guys from Gosport were in there too, as usual got back to my room at some stupid hour in the morning. I think on Monday I am going to be heading south down to Phuket for a couple of days and then onto Koh Phi Phi. My visa runs out on the 13th October so I have to be heading into Malaysia by that date.....more updates soon...

Day 94 (30th September 2005) This morning I finally left Haad Yao to head to the other island Koh Samui. I took a boat direct from Haad Rin across to Samui and arrived here about 3pm. I found a decent room with air-con for 500 Baht. It is so touristy here and so the prices are much higher than I have been used to. For that I don't think I am going to be staying very long. I spent the evening in O'neils bar and met some people from Gosport. (Would you believe it!)

Day's 84-93 (20th - 29th September 2005) - THE 3RD MONTH MARK Today we moved from Haad Rin to another beach called Haad Yao on the north-westerly side of the island of Koh Phangan. I managed to find a bungalow with a great view of the whole beach for a meer 200 Baht a night. Just down on the beach below there was a cool beach bar and we spent most of the evenings there as the guy that runs it is really sound. Haad Yao is one of the nicest beaches on Koh Phangan and it is really quiet. One of the days me and an Irish guy rented motorbikes and drive around the island, we managed to see most of the beaches and also a waterfall (which had no water!) I got a puncture in my back tyre but luckily I was able to find a garage and the guy fixed it for me for 50 Baht - Bargain. These days were mainly spent on the beach, Ailish left for Phuket so I was on my own for the last couple of days here but I met some really nice Swiss people and hung out with them for the rest of my time here.

Day 83 (19th September 2005) Today was really a non-event as after getting in so late (or should I say so early) after the full moon party I slept most of the day to recover. I got up about 4pm and then went for dinner with Ailish. In the evening we met some nice American girls in the outback bar and then after that I headed down to the beach on my own to go for more beers. I ended up meeting some people from the UK and drinking with them. At one point I had my face painted with illuminous paints by some Thai guy that seemed to be painting everyone, he wasn't charging anything. Again I rolled back to my bungalow at around 6am...

Day 82 (18th September 2005) Tonight was the night of the full moon party on Haad Rin Nok beach. We stayed in Haad Rin for some drinks before heading to the beach at around 11pm...the beach was basically a mass of thousands of people drinking and partying all night. The moon was out and in full as promised! I was a little crazy as I drank one of the infamous buckets, which basically is a lethal mix of whisky, red bull and coke. Once you have had one the effects are a little delayed, about 20 mins later I was almost passed out lying on the beach...after an hour I managed to sort myself out. I didn't manage to stay at the party any later than 7am....that was enough for me!! The full moon party is one of them things that you just have to do if you go to Thailand. I've done it once not sure whether I'd do it again though.

Day 81 (17th September 2005) Today was a lazy day hanging around Haad Rin. In the evening I watched the football Charlton Vs Chelsea and then played in a pool competition with 20 people. Only got to the second round but I had been drinking beers since 3pm so my concentration wasn't the best. I thought it best to get a fairly early night as tomorrow is the full moon party which means it's going to be an all night affair. After travelling through Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos I am really starting to notice the money I am spending here in Thailand and it is alot more than I was spending in the aforementioned countries. After the F.M.P. I am going to have to start watching my spending and I think we are going to be heading north to a different beach called Had Yao.....Big update to come tomorrow after FMP......ciaos

Day 80 (16th September 2005) The train arrived at Surat Thani at 7am this morning and we had to catch a bus to the ferry port and then get a ferry to the island. We got to Koh Pha Ngan at around 12pm today and hopped on a taxi to take us to Haad Rin. We then spent the next two hours looking around for accomodation, we couldn't find anything and were about to give up and head up north, then we decided to try one more beach and luckily I got a bungalow for 200 Baht. It's not the greatest place to stay but it's only going to be for a few days until after the full moon party.

Day 79 (15th September 2005) We went out last night to some bars on the Khao San Road and as always with doing that it's almost certain that we didn't get back to some ridiculous hour in the morning! However, I was awake at 10am as I had to check out of the guesthouse, I spent the day milling around on K.S.R...We left for the train station around 5pm and got on the sleeper train as planned to leave at 6.30pm. The night on the train was a lot of fun as there was a party coach on the train. It had a bar, music and party lights, I met an Irish guy there that I met before in Laos and he and his girlfriend were on the same train. The train was pretty uncomfortable though so I couldn't get much sleep......
