Day 141 (16th November 2005)
Again today the weather was pretty bad, it was cold and raining. I was beginning to question whether I was in Australia or England as the weather was similar to home. I stayed in the hostel today and didn't venture out anywhere. Still a bit jet lagged.

Day 140 (15th November 2005)
I arrived in Sydney airport this morning at about 6am and hopped on a KST shuttle bus to get to Wake Up! hostel in central Sydney. Checked into the hostel and what luck! I am in a dorm room with 7 other girls! Most of them are English and there are 2 Danish girls. The hostel is great, super clean and very safe and everything is available right here. There is a cafe, restaurant and bar all close by. At lunch time today the weather got a little bad so I didn't do too much. I headed down to look around Darling Harbour and grabbed dinner and a beer in some pub.

Day 139 (14th November 2005)
Headed out to the Mustafa center today to take a look around and then walked back through Little India to Sim Lim Square. Soon I will be going to Changi airport by MRT, the MRT here is ultra-modern, clean, reliable and cheap. I can get to the Airport for less than $2 which is equivalent to 60p - Bargain. My flight to Australia is at 8.05pm tonight, so my next update will be from Sydney...Gooday Mate!

Day 138 (13th November 2005)
Met up with Elaine again and we headed out to catch the MRT and bus to get to the Night Safari. The Night Safari was again excellent, we went on a tram through the park and saw buffalo's, giraffes, elephants, anteaters, rhino's, hippo's and the list goes on. They have got animals here from all over the world, some of them are rare endangered species that I have never even heard of, let alone seen. After the tram we went to see an Animal show where they brung out animals to do tricks and stuff. The Night Safari is really worth the money and glad I came to see it....I also tried a famous Singapore sling today!

Day 137 (12th November 2005)
I was up early this morning to grab breakfast and then I headed out to take the MRT (Subway) to the harbourfront. Here I took the cable car across the harbour to Sentosa Island. This island is basically Singapore's biggest theme park. I went up the Carlsberg Sky tower, it takes you up real high and revolves around giving 360 Degree views across the island and city. I took some good pictures! After that I went to Underwater world aquarium, this was absoloutely brilliant - the best aquarium I have ever been too, there were all sorts of fish there and other interesting sealife. It was then onto the Cinemania complex where I enjoyed 2 high quality virtual reality thrill rides. I returned from Sentosa about 3pm and when I got back to the hostel I met a Canadian girl called Elaine and we decided to hang out together. In the evening we went to Clarke and Boat Quays for dinner and then onto the famous Mohammed Sultan Road where there is a load of bars and clubs. We finally ended up in a club near boat quay until 5am....A good day!

Day 136 (11th November 2005)
Got a taxi at 8.30am to the bus station and managed to hop straight onto an express bus to Singapore at 9 - Bonus! The nice thing was the bus was really comfortable and the seats were nice and wide. Got to the border crossing and went through immigration. I nearly got left behind as the bus was leaving when I finally got through, I had to flag it down to stop! Singapore immigration seemed a little bit faster and I was soon in Singapore. I managed to locate the hostel pretty quick too but the weather was really humid so the sweat was pouring. I went for a walk around in the afternoon to Sim Lim square - a big shopping complex and in the evening I went for a couple of beers at a local cafe! Had an early night as was totally knackered. Tomorrow I head to Sentosa Island...

Day's 133/134 (8th/9th November 2005)
On the 8th I managed to finally get on a bus and go to Melaka. It was only a nice 2 hour journey so not so stressful. Melaka is a nice place, very picturesque, there are many museums here but not sure if I will go to any. The city is clean and there is a big shopping mall to get food and stuff. In the evening of the 8th we went to some bistro bar and on the 9th just got some beers and stayed at the hostel. The hostel is cool, a really nice place to stay. The people are friendly and there is a roof garden - which is a great place to chill out with beers and chat.

Day 130 (5th November 2005)
Tonight Grant and I went to see Seb Fontaine play at a nightclub called Zouk. This place is pretty neat, it has real modern decor. I met a couple of cool girls from Singapore. Later after this shut up I met some Irish people going to an after party so I decided to tag along with them, ended up at some bar somewhere! Didn't really stay there that long there as it was getting really late at that point....Zouk was fab though

Day 129 (4th November 2005)
In the evening today we went to see a movie called Cyberworld at the IMAX 3d Cinema within the Times Square complex. I have never been to an IMAX before so this was pretty good experience. It's got the biggest screen in South East Asia apparently. After that we went for a pizza hut and then out to Finnegans bar, then Luna bar and finally the Beach club....was a pretty fun night.

Day's 125-127 (31st October 2005 - 2nd November)
Yep I am still in KL - the last few days have been a combination of drinking, eating and sleeping. We also managed to go to the Luna Bar, Beach Bar and The Loft again on Tuesday. I am trying at the moment to cancel my WHV for Australia and substitute it for a 3 month tourist visa. This will allow me to go back to Australia for a full year in the future as I didn't want to waste my full year entitlement by going there for only 4 months. So that's in progress. I think I will be leaving KL around the 7th or 8th of the month to head down to Melaka for a couple of days, before getting to Singapore....it's all good!

Day 124 (30th October 2005)
In the evening Grant and I went to the roller coaster inside the shopping mall and it was brilliant! There were also some other rides that were just as great. One of them was like Ramases revenge at Alton Towers but much better! After that we went to the Luna Bar, now this is a bar that is located on top of a skyscaper. There is a swimming pool there and views across the whole city. The Petrona s towers are a stones throw away - it is fab, a real cool bar. We went after to another called 'The Loft' but it was pretty dead because it was a Sunday. We stayed there for 1 beer and then headed to The Beach Bar. The Beach Bar is dead central in KL, all in all it was a good night. I ended up spending loads on drink but it was pretty fun. The highlight for me is definately "The Luna Bar" I will be going back there at some point, it is top notch..............

Day 123 (29th October 2005) - THE 4TH MONTH MARK

Bingo! Today I have reached the 4 month mark. Yes I have been away now for exactly 4 months, the downside is only 8 months left. Well I got up pretty late today and chilled out in the common room. I met up with Grant and we decided to take a walk around the Chinatown area of the city. We then went to the observation deck of the Menara tower. It's a massive round tower with an observation deck and rotating restaurant above it, much like the BT tower but a lot more impressive. After that we took a walk close to the Petronas towers to get some more photos. I haven't been in them yet but I plan to do it either Monday or Tuesday and apparently right underneath the towers there is a giant shopping mall called the KLCC and it's supposed to be worth a see too. Tomorrow I think we may be going to an inside rollercoster somewhere here, some guy mentioned it earlier. There is also an awesome bar on the top of a high building that Grant recommends, so might give that a shot at some point.....Early impressions of KL are good, I kinda like it. The streets are clean and there is no awful stink of sewage like in the Thailand cities. I can also get my Tandoori chicken here which is good news, have missed that for a week as was not available on the Perhentians.

Day 122 (28th October 2005)
Today I left the Perhentian Islands because soon I feared that the monsoons will be arriving and I didn't want to get stuck there! The islands are gradually starting to close down and most places there will be starting to close up in the next week or so. The journey from the islands back to the mainland was much better than the one on the way out, but the seas were still pretty rough. When I arrived at the boat pier on the mainland I had to get a taxi to a place called Jerteh so as to buy the ticket and catch the bus to KL. The journey took around 7 hours but it was ok because I had a good book to read (Digital Fortress - Dan Brown) and my MP3 was fully charged, it makes the time pass by pretty quick. Unfortunately on arrival to KL the bus didn't stop at the bus station I expected it too. The place I wanted to stay was actually right on the other side of town so I had to catch a taxi and I got scammed by the taxi driver. I found out later that I actually paid 3 times as much as I should of, well I didn't know exactly how far it was because this is a new city but now I'm pretty wised up. I'm staying at a place called Pudu hostel located just on the edge of Chinatown - the rooms are clean and cool but no windows. The place has a good common area to hang out and watch movies and football and stuff. I have actually bumped into a guy here called Grant that I met in Cambodia so been hanging out with him.

Day's 114-121 (20th-27th October 2005)
Spent a wonderful 8 day's on the small island of Pulau Perhentian Kecil and as you can probably guess there was no internet available from there and hence why no update for quite a while! When we first arrived there (after a rough boat journey) everyone who wanted to go to Long Beach had to get dropped off on Coral Beach. This is on the other side of the island. This meant a walk for 20mins through a jungle in order to get to Long Beach where I wanted to stay. I was not expecting that (or the lizard - more later on that). Had a very cool time on the island, spent most of the time relaxing on the beach and not doing much. I also met loads of people. I was pretty lucky with the weather too as we had around 5 or 6 really good days, which was suprising considering before I went everyone was warning of days and days of rainfall. Well I guess I was just lucky here. I stayed at a place called Matahari and spent 4 days in a bungalow. I had to move though after the 4th because I couldn't handle the bugs, I got back one night and had 4 bugs, 10 mosquitos, 1 moth and some other creature that I can only describe as like a flying beetle, this was enough for me. I had reached my limit with these bugs, so the next day I upgraded to a chalet and the bug situation got a lot better. The highlight of my trip to the islands was definately the snorkelling trip, this is also one of my all time highlights for my whole trip so far. You pay 40 Riggit (about 6GBP) and go out snorkelling for the day, we went to 4 or 5 places to snorkel. At one place there were loads of tropical fish, I saw a needle fish, parrot fish, clown fish (like Finding Nemo)and numerous other fish in outrageously trendy techni-colours. This was excellent as the visability was really good. At another place I got to swim along with a giant turtle, there is this one beach on the big island that has many turtles swimming around, I managed to find one and swam close to it for a while until it dissapeared into the depths. Another place that we went to was called Shark Point and that is for the very reason that there are sharks there (no sh*t, Sherlock), not big ones as they are black tip sharks, however I didn't manage to see any but I tried. Two other people in the group said they saw them but maybe they were just speaking out of their asses (as to speak). I was not particulary fussed about seeing them because the whole trip was amazing anyway, not only the fish but also the coral too. Another thing I saw on the island were the monitor lizards. When I was walking through the jungle bit I saw one of these things, they are enormous, they are 2-3 metres long and about 75cms-1m in width, the hugest lizards I've ever seen and one of them was right there in front of me! I think we both scared each other in that situation as it went off quite quick and so did I. I don't think they are dangerous but didn't want to take any risks. This kinda sums up my trip to the Perhentian islands - The beautiful paridise islands off the north eastern coast of Malaysia.

Day 113 (19th October 2005)
Not going to do anything much today, gonna save stuff for when I return here from Perhentians. I needed to catch up with some sleep today as the night before I didn't sleep at all. I had a walk around the town here today and located a pub open until 1am and also restaurants and a place that sells Tandori chicken - what a bonus. I will be there later tonight! Tommorow leave for the Perhentians at 10am! Super

Day 112 (18th October 2005)
I decided to leave Penang today as I had been there nearly 1 week and there was not too much stuff left to do apart from drinking and eating too much tandori chicken! After finding out that Perhentians were almost closed I decided to head to the Cameron Highlands. I left at 10am and met some Finish guys on the bus also heading there. When we arrived, we met some people that had just come from the Perhentians and apparently they are still open - so I was a little cheesed. Anyway I've heard that the Perhentians are too good to miss so I think the day after tomorrow me and the two Finnish guys are going to go to the Perhentian s. We can get a bus direct from here to the Pier and then a boat across to the islands. I think I will be gutted if I don't go and even if the weather is bad when I get there it can't be bad for the whole 10 days that I want to go. I think that is the plan, I can always return back here after and do some trekking and stuff then....

Day's 108-111 (14th-17th October 2005)
Still in Penang, I seem to have fallen into a trap of going out in the evening for beers with a Canadian guy I have met here. It seems we don't get to bed until like 5am. We found a great place to get take-away indian food and it is really top-notch stuff, the massala kicks the ass out of that in the UK. I was going to be going to the Perhentian islands but I have been warned by a few people that the monsoon season has already started and there are heavy rains which might mean getting stranded there. Now I am serious thinking about my other options, maybe the Cameron highlands or possibly going to a big volcano lake on the Indonesian island of Sumatra. I'm not sure yet but I have to make a decision soon as this place is eating fast into my travel funds. Beer here is almost as expensive as beer at home due to the fact that this is a mainly Islamic country........more updates soon....
